La Tour Eiffel is probably the most iconic structure in Paris. I hate this word iconic but at time I have to use it. Along with the Notre Dame cathedral and the Seine, it defines this glorious city. A trip to Paris without visiting this structure is a waste. However, the number of tourists that are waiting to go up is so great as to discourage many. On the day we went, the throngs were extremely large. We had been there several times in the past so we did not go up. I recall when we could just go up. But that was long ago. We got nice panoramic views from the Gare d'Orsay roof and from Sacre Coeur in Montmartre.
Greetings, this blog is dedicated to my life in photography. I want to make this a place to stop and relax. In the hope that this will help in these trying times

"New and improved" Nikon
In spite of the improvements in small cameras and smart camera phones, the camera companies are trying to keep up with the never ending "new and improved" products that make some equipment fanatics salivate or even worse. To each his own. I have found happiness with the very portable and competent micro four thirds cameras that offer a good compromise on features, price and size.
Nikon has introduced the D610 24MP. a full-frame DSLR. It took just a year after the D600 appeared although the D610seems to offer minor "improvements." It does sport a quiet and faster continuous shooting mode and "improved" white These are the major changes. The D610 is basically the same camera as the D600 and, because it has the same $2000 SRP as the D 600 , it's very likely that it will replace the older camera. A good time to try and get a bargain on the D 600 and use the savings on a lens or even an a good meal at a nice restaurant.

When one photo is enough
This from on Route 191 near Honesdale Pa, has always fascinated me because of it's classic and traditional appearance. The photo almost didn't happen because after I took the shot, the battery on the GX1 died. I forgot to take along a fully charged one. But the photo was recorded and I just love the whole foggy atmosphere.

A tree in New Jersey / Lumix GX1
Fall has begun somewhat reluctantly because the temperature has been rather summer like. This tree fascinated me while I was waiting to have lunch al fresco at a roadside diner. I was eager to try out my new Panasonic Lumix Vario 14-45 F 1:3.5-5.6 lens. This is not the kit lens but the better one that is very well built and has a metal mount. It appears to be a very competent optic. It's also a great buy and comes with a very nice lens shade,

There was something right about the skin tones of the D 1-X. Only the Fuji S2-Pro did better. The Nikkor 35-135 F 3.5-4.5 was used.
