La costa amalfitana
The Amalfi coast is one of the best known tourist sites in Italy and deservedly so. Its coastline is made up of a mountain range that drops into the sea. Positano, the bottom photo is symbolic of this way of building one house atop another. I always wondered how people find their way; do streets have names along with levels? Needless to say, the area is full of tourists and it ranges from Amalfi to the east to Capri to the west. These photos were shot from a boat going from Amalfi to Naples.

Vintage archival black and white
I shot countless rolls of black and white film, mainly Tri-X with my arsenal of cameras. These images are from Brooklyn Heights in the mid seventies that I recently scanned. There's a power and clarity in black and white that adds character to the appropriate scenes. It makes the images more graphic and that is what photography was really meant to be.

Scopello from the sea
I have posted many images of this lovely tuna fishing hamlet but these are the first shot from a boat. The place is wonderful and is highly recommended. Above the marina is the village where there are some of the finest places to eat in Sicily. BTW Scopello is in the territory of Castellammare del Golfo.
