A walk in the rain

Walking around in the neighborhood on a rainy day. The sun should come out one of these days.

Have a wonderful weekend

Classic candid portrait

This was the mother of a dear friend of mine whom I was visiting at the time. I just told her to turn toward me and look at the lens and the picture was taken. The uncanny ability of photography to freeze a moment forever still amazes me.

Gruppo Agrakas

Gruppo Agrakas is a Sicilian folk group from Agrigento, Sicily. Agrakas was the original name of the wonderful city whose valley of the temples has the best preserved Greek temples in all of Magna Grecia. The name was then changed to Girgenti but the Duce renamed it Agrigento tp give it a Greek sounding Italian name. Enough trivia. This group is absolutely superb and they were performing at an Arba Sicula event at St, John's University in Queens, NYC. Arba Sicula is an organization whose aim is to foster Sicilian culture and it's language. More information can be found on the link in the blog.

I love this building

I cannot stop photographing it. There's something that makes it very attractive, It's unique form along with  the way it integrates itself among the other structures near by make this a truly superb piece of architecture.

More medium format images

These archival shots date from the late eighties and were shot on Tri-X. I do not recall the camera I used. They are from woods in north east Pennsylvania. I used an Epson V-600 to scan them.

Naples, a few years ago

As I go through my archive, I find personal stuff that I shot, looked at and put away because I was too busy with my business photos. These images were shot back in 1990 and are of the so called quartiere spagnolo or the Spanish quarters in Naples. Needless to say it became a rather run down area but being Naples it kept it's charm. These were all shot with a Leica M-4, a 35mm F 2 Summicron and Tri-X Pan film. It took guts walking around with a Leica in that neighborhood.
