Another Saturday long ago

Central Park on June, 25th, 1978. This is part two of the post of 8-117-19. Here we see a more sedate aspect of the feast for Saint Juan and these nuns are quite memorable as far as photography is concerned.

The feast

The idea of town feasts celebrating particular saints is a tradition brought here by Italian immigrants. In the old days they afforded the only entertainment people had. Today the tradition continues and New York's many different Italian neighborhoods continue to stage feasts. These images are from the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Brooklyn. Food always takes center stage in these events.

Vintage street - travel photography

These two images were shot in Tangiers, Marocco way back in 1974. In my mind they seem as if they were shot yesterday. Where does the time goes and why does it travel so fast.

Vintage street shot

This image was shot on a rainy summer morning on Mulberry street, on Manhattan's famed Chinatown. I used Ektachrome X with a speed of only 64 loaded on a Nikon FTn with a Nikkor 105 F 2.5 lens. I did much street photography then.

Archival shot

This is a scan of an image that shows all three downtown East River bridges. It was shot from Fulton Landing on the Brooklyn side and it dates from the early eighties.

Charleston, SC long ago.

Because Charleston was not destroyed during the Civil War, it has kept all it's ante bellum charm. These Kodachrome 25 scans date from the spring of 1974.
