Tangiers, Marocco a while ago

Precisely, these photos date from May of 1974. It seems as if if were yesterday. But times marches on. The camera was a Leica M-4 with a 35mm Summicron F2 and naturally, the film was Tri-X. What can I say; let the images speak for themselves.

Searching for the light

It's always the light but finding it is the important part. Occhio vivo or keep yours eyes open for it. It's elusive and ephemeral but it can always be found in the early morning and late in the day provided the sun has shown it's face. I must walk the Catahoula early every morning so thanks to my iPhone I always try to capture the light. It's really not that hard.

It's not a food blog

Nevertheless I love to cook and do almost every night. I enjoy shopping for the ingredients and go to different shops to get what I need. I try to use only fresh vegetables but this is sometimes impossible. But I cook and eat well and being a photographer I like to shoot the food. This is only a sample of what I consider comfort food for this season that will only get colder. But spring should be here soon.

Minestrone

Penne rigate con salsiccia e broccoletti (sausage and broccoli)

Gnocchi from Italy con salsa caprese

Spaghetti alla puttanesca

Penne all'arrabbiata

Yours truly and Eliot

This is being posted in living memory of my Son's Josef and My daughter in law Francesca's cat Eliot who was living with us temporarily at the time. He was a very affectionate cat who loved to climb on my shoulder. Sadly, he succumbed to an incurable disease and we miss him very much. As people who follow this blog realize that we are a family of animal lovers. The love of animal is very special and rewarding. My talented daughter, Jen took the photo. She is a photographer in her own right who works in Oregon.
