Reader and advisor

Sometimes only black and white does justice to an image. A Leica with a Summicron lens also helps. Long ago in the fall when Coney Island goes to sleep but is full of photo ops. Naturally, the film was Kodak Tri-X Pan.

Celebration

At the end of the main feast, after the statue of the Madonna finally returns to the central church, there's a spectacular fireworks display. Because it takes place on the 21st of August, it also signals the end of the heavy tourist season. It's really something to see. To avoid the crowds, we invite friends and see it from our terrazza. Naturally and sadly I will have to miss it this year. What can I say. I can look at the pictures and fire up my memory.

I cordai di Siracusa

These cordai or rope makers were shot in Siracusa, Sicily in the famous  cave known as Dionysius' Ear because of it's acoustic properties. The cave acts as a sound amplifier. Dionisius used it as a prison and he could hear what the prisoners were saying. These gentlemen were  showing tourists the old way of making rope. This was way back in 1972 on my first visit to this fascinating city, one of Italy's most beautiful. Shot with the Leica M-4, a 35mm Summicron and good old Kodak Tri-X Pan.

A tango in Paris

These images were shot in Paris in an area below Le Sacre Coeur church in Montmartre near the exit of the tramway and the entrance to the Metro. They were  certainly putting on a very sensual show.
