Nothing compares in its dramatic aspects to a Sicilian funeral. Aspects that bring to the fore latent but close to the surface Greek drama and pathos. It is a neighborhood event and all must attend in one way or another. A home visit, attendance at the funeral rite, following the hearse procession or even waiting outside the church are all acceptable methods of showing respect for the departed. The person whose funeral it was, lived on the next block from my home and was also named Galatioto, She was not a relative so my showing of respect was waiting outside the church but with my camera, of course. It must be stated that photographing funeral is routine in Italy.
Greetings, this blog is dedicated to my life in photography and my passion for good Italian food.. I want to make this a place to stop and relax. In the hope that this will provide some respite and peace. Thank you for visiting.
