As we have been predicting all along, the large "show off" cameras will soon be a thing of the past. With phones that sport 41 mega pixels, this sane, portable and capable system will get even stronger. Now Olympus creates a camera that even the most "serious" photographer can appreciate.
Olympus America has just added some very exciting new products to their
popular Micro Four Thirds line of mirrorless interchangeable lens
cameras. First is a new flagship model for their OM-D line of
weatherproof ILCs, the OM-D E-M1. This powerful model builds on the
advancements made with their OM-D and Digital PEN lines, while also
including some tfeatures from their powerful E-series of dSLRs. The E-M1
offers that retro look we've become accustomed to, and it's packed with
some powerful features. These are: a newl 16.3-megapixel
Live MOS sensor, a new TruePic VII image processing unit, new DUAL FAST
AF system (offers 37-point Phase Detection or 81-point Contrast
Detection AF), new Fine Detail Processing II technology, shutter speeds
up to 1/8000th of a second, 10fps shooting along with a 41-frame RAW buffer, a
new Interactive EVF, 5-axis Image Stabilization, Lifeproof specs
(Freezeproof, Splashproof, Dustproof, Idiot proof? etc.), built-in Wi-Fi, etc.. The OM-D E-M1 should be available in
October of this year (2013), with a Body only price of $1399.99. It only comes in black.
