I misteri or the mysteries is a religious event that is a re enactment of when the Madonna searched and finally found the empty grave of the Christ. The most famous of these is held on Good Friday into Holy Saturday in Trapani, Sicily. It's an all night event with different guilds acting separate parts. It's a very moving event that has become too touristy these days. It's hard to have any event with an infinite of smart phones all pointing into the air. This was once religion as high drama but today it is just huge a photo op. These shots were made in the Carrol Gardens section of Brooklyn in 1976. They were shot with Tri-X and Leicas. The negatives were scanned. Obviously they precede smart phones.
Greetings, this blog is dedicated to my life in photography and my passion for good Italian food.. I want to make this a place to stop and relax. In the hope that this will provide some respite and peace. Thank you for visiting.
