These cordai or rope makers were shot in Siracusa, Sicily in the famous cave known as Dionysius' Ear because of it's acoustic properties. The cave acts as a sound amplifier. Dionisius used it as a prison and he could hear what the prisoners were saying. These gentlemen were showing tourists the old way of making rope. This was way back in 1972 on my first visit to this fascinating city, one of Italy's most beautiful. Shot with the Leica M-4, a 35mm Summicron and good old Kodak Tri-X Pan.
Greetings, this blog is dedicated to my life in photography and my passion for good Italian food.. I want to make this a place to stop and relax. In the hope that this will provide some respite and peace. Thank you for visiting.
