Most of the Greek temples in Sicily survive and are revered and protected. They actually are in much better shape than those in Greece. Nevertheless, the city of Selinunte was destroyed by the Carthaginians and there's on ongoing effort to try to restore some of the more practical ones. It is a must place to visit but it's best to go off season when it's not very hot.
