Cat on a hot thin roof

That would make for a great movie tittle. Just joking. It was a great period piece  This Kodachrome scan dates from the early seventies and was shot in the area that became the South Street Seaport. Then it was a very redolent fish market area. This poor cat better stay on that roof because I actually saw rats that where bigger than her. I am assuming it was a she.

I'm scanning my slides and found many from the incipience of the South Street Seaport in lower Manhattan. This photo is from 1973 when the area was beginning to be developed. The seaport itself was operational but the surrounding area was still basically the old Fulton Fish Market. Now it has been developed into one of the city's trendiest spot with restaurants, bars and upscale shops. This cat was just sitting on the edge of  a building that was to be converted into boutiques and other shops. I must admit that the seaport was developed tastefully. It's a great place to visit.

The forest in the city

Forest Park, in Queens is one of the largest parks in New York City and it's an actual forest. Except for some accessible public areas, the rest is woods just like in the country. It's an invaluable  source of clean air for the city. These shots were near the  dog run where I take my Catahoula daily.
