Wonderful Greenport, NY on Long Island's north fork. I go there occasionally to stock up on the local wines, some of which I consider to be excellent. It's a nice day trip.

Another bucolic scene. This is farm on Long Island's north fork. So very peaceful.

Shot at the Pellegrini vineyards on the North Fork of Long Island, NY. Some wine snobs will put down Long Island wines but I like them. I get a warm feeling knowing that there are wine grapes growing on this Island, just like in Sicily. We take trips here frequently and stock up on the many varieties of the nectar of the Gods.

These colorful Adirondak chairs were exhibited on the lawn of a large house on the North Fork of Long Island NY. They were of real wood and not for sale.

Adirondak chairs display

I love this early digital image shot with the Canon 1D. The location is the North Fork of Long Island in the heart  of the wine region.

Back to the wine country in Long Island

I have raved about the quality of the wines produced on the North Fork of Long Island. Some snobs may point their pampered noses up and some others will not even lower themselves by even trying them. I can only say too bad for them. In my BC period, that is before children, when I had much more disposable income, I became enamored with wines. I grew up in a wine producing region. On my  maternal grand parent's farm house we actually had more wine than water and my paternal family were all coopers. So you can understand my love of wines. Therefore I began savoring many great wines some even French! Just kidding, and developed a taste for the good stuff. But I must assert that I find many wines from Long Island to be exceptional and I am not ashamed  to shout it. As we say in New York: so sue me
At any rate these images wee all shot with the Nikon D-70 a nice small DSLR.

Long Island's Wine Country

The north fork of Long Island has become an absolutely world class wine region. It produces some excellent wine and so close to home. When  first saw the grapes I was very moved. To know that I live in an island that grows grapes and produces wine, priceless. We go there several times a year to stock up and we have a great time. As can be seen, the area is very well suited for outings and in the summer and fall it's a great place to go to have a wonderful day and taste the wines, buy some and have a ice lunch. What can be better.
All images were shot with a Nikon D-70 with a mere 6 mega pixels. Go figure.

Purple truck on the North Fork

It will soon be autumn and time to go to the nearby farms to gather  up some  fall delicacies. We usually go to the North Fork of Long Island. These photos go back 2 years and were shot with the Canon 5-D and the 24-105 F 4 L. I just love the fall in the North Eastern part of the USA.

The question is always what to cook. I had a nice eggplant and some really good Lucio Garofalo paste called schiaffoni , a very funny name...
