Archival slide scans

I always go through my myriad of images and always find interesting ones. These are Agfachrome 50 slide scans dating from the fall of 1973 and are from the Finger Lakes region in New York State. The camera was a Nikon FTn with a 35mm F 2.8 Nikkor lens

The Finger Lakes Region

The Finger Lakes region of New York State, is famous for it's grape vineyards, They make wines from American grapes that give a very sweet wine, not the vinifera type that is famous in California, the North fork and all other wine producing areas of the world. There are hybrids here also and make wines with a degree of success. It is interesting to note that most grapes around the word use the native American plants as the base on which the vinifera types are grafted. This is because the native American grapes resist the philloxera a disease that affects the roots of the plants. Toward the end of the 19th century, this disease devastated the major wine regions of the world. They were saved by the use of American stock that is of the same genus so the grafting was possible. At any rate back in 1973 we took a trip to this region. These are scans from 120 Agfachromes shot with a Yashika  124.
