That old itch

I had to suppress tht old itch to travel this spring because of unexpected but not serious medical problems that ironically affect my right eye or the one used to compose all my images before the advent of the iPhone that has become my only way to shoot until this problem is resolved, What can I say. So I look at archival images. These two shots are from Noto,  a remarkable town in Sicily not too far from Syracuse [Siracusa].  In 1600 an earthquake destroyed this place so ut was reconstructed with the baroque [barocco] style of the time. What was created was a super ornate and palatiol small city that has become a tourist favorite, Because it's proximity to the sea the food is delicious. I had the best octopus salad ever at a restaurant called Liberty. A must place to visit if one is in Sicily.

Noto

This wonderful town in Eastern Sicily is known for its high baroque architecture. In 1600 it was destroyed by an earthquake so it was later rebuilt in the prevailing baroque style. It is a wonderful place to visit.

Noto

This fascinating town in Southern Sicily, in the province of Siracusa, was totally destroyed by a severe earthquake in the beginning of the 17th century. It was rebuilt in the then baroque style. Each building is highly ornate and massive. It has become a great tourist attraction. The restaurants here are superb and are among the best in Italy.

Risotto with beans and thick bacon. My own recipe. A filling and delicious dish.
