The art of the panino. The ingredients must be kept to a minimum and must complement each other. The so called Italian hero that has all types of cold cuts is an abomination because one cannot savor any of the ingredients. The bread but be fresh and crispy. This is a sandwich consisting of a mafalda type bread filled with broccoli rape and fresh mozzarella. A little EVO and naturally salt and pepper. Simplicity in itself but what flavor.

Amazing

I cannot believe the advances brought by the digital revolution. Such images would have been very difficult to capture using film - negative or slides. Yet with my iPhone 6S, actually outdated as these things go, I was able to shoot with ease. Just amazing. Just imagine that I used to shoot with Kodachrome II with an ASA of 25 and would have to switch to Kodachrome X with an ASA of 64 as it got later in the day and then try Ektachrome 160. With black and white I would shoot Tri-X at 400 and if need be push it to 800. Super fast in those days. Now one can practically shoot in the dark. As we say in New York, go figure. These images had no photoshop manipulation of any kind. I was trying to see how far the iPhone would take me.

A real beauty

This Dueseberg Model 1914 L took part in the 1914 Indy 500. The driver was Eddie Rickenbacker who went on to became a WWI hero. The car is absolutely stunning.

Just lovely

I absolutely love the traditional American architecture and I feel that it's best examples can be found in New England. This is a typical Cape Cod house in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Just lovely in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Just lovely.

This is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed when traveling. The architecture is delightful and takes you back in time; the breakfast is very elegant and the staff and owners are very friendly and pleasant all creating a feeling of ease and comfort. A must place to stay when in Cape Cod. I will feature more images in future posts.

Two years ago we took a wonderful trip to Cape Cod and stayed at the Isaiah Junes Homestead. This is how breakfast was served. A really wonderful place where  authenticity and traditions are championed and preserved.

Simplicity

There's a basic and pleasant simplicity in New England architecture. These scenes from Cape Cod prove this point. I kept the composition also simple as t
o complement this basic design.

You simply must stay here

This past June we went on a mini vacation to Cape Cod. The highlight was staying at the Isaiah Jones  homestead, a wonderful bed and breakfast. This old home has been restored to it's original glory and it provides for a very pleasant experience. But was makes it really special is the attentive owners who  are extremely attentive and kind. Photos of the exquisite breakfast dishes will soon follow. Needless to say we enjoyed our stay. The Isaish Jones Homestead is in Sandwich, Cape Cod.
Just google it for more information.

Playing with light

Photography is nothing but manipulating light. Seeing the light and it's possibilities and then trying to capture them in a still photo. These are from Sandwich, Mass. in Cape Cod. I tried to play with the light as it interacted with the trees and leaves. The images are all back light as this gives the most interesting images.

Classic New England Church

The classic New England church architecture has always fascinated me. It is a far cry from the church architecture I was used to in my town in Sicily that were simple and heavy Spanish styled structures on the outside but were laden with frescoes, paintings, statues and very ornate marble altars on the inside. Here we have a simple design that both inside and out is quite Spartan but with a charm and character that is very winning. Needless to say I have grown very fond of these structures. This is in sandwich, Cape Cod.
