A quiet courtyard in Lucca, Tuscany, Italy. This lovely city is famous for it's olive oil and the old walls that enclose its historic ancient center. Naturally the food is excellent.

San Gemignano, Tuscany a hilltop village known for its many towers. In its heyday, it had several hundred of these structures. The ones that remain are still very impressive.

Dreaming of Tuscany. A view of Chianti vineyards at Pieve in Chianti, Tuscany.

My friend Gino at Castello di Verrazzano in Pieve in Chianti, Tuscany giving a very hystrionic presentation on how to savor a good Chianti. The tourists eat this stuff up. The wine actually is superb along with the food. BTW, Verrazzano is misspelled on the famous bridge. The family of the explorer has been making fine Chianti for over a thousand years.

I tend to get sentimental at this time of the year. Back to Pisa in August 1969. We were some of the last people allowed to climb to the top pf the leaning tower. It was soon shut down to visitors and more work was started to prevent it from toppling down. It was an experience to say the least.

Areal blast from the past. Pisa, summer of 1969. Shot on Agfachrome A canon FT, a 28mm F 3.5 Canon FL lens. I always wonder what happened to the people in the photos.

This is the way to the parking lot of our hotel in Siena, Tuscany on a sunny and mild spring day a few years ago. It was a touch of heaven.

A blast from the past.

I cannot believe that 56 years have passed since I shot this image of the Ponte Vecchio in Florence in 1969. I used a Canon FT with a 50mm F 1.4 Canon FL lens. The film was Agfachrome 50. As the song says, "I remember it well."

Siena, Tuscany, the square where the famous Palio di Siena is held every August. It's a horse race where every neighborhood has a horse. All in renaissance costumes. A thrilling event to say the least.

The view from the keepers of Castello di Verrazzano in Pieve in Chianti, Tuscany. This is the same family of Giovanni da Verrazzano who discovered NY Bay and whose name, albeit misspelled, adorns the majestic bridge from Brooklyn to Staten Island in NYC. It's an enchanting place and the meals are out of this world.
