It's really about the food these days
When I travel I'm more interested about the food than the photos. When a photo op of food ppears I couldn't be more happy. These photos a a few years ago were shot in Genoa, Italy in a large market where on Saturday local artisans and farmers sod their wonderful products. These salamis were absolutely delicious.

Remembering Genova
Genova [Genoa] is one of my favorite cities in Italy. Today it has suffered a catastrophe in the collapse of a major overpass. My heart goes to the people of Genova and to those who lost their lives or were injured. I want to post a few images shot last year to render homage to this great city. Forza Genova

Genova
Genoa is a truly wonderful city. It has a glorious history as a great maritime republic and it is physically stupendous. The food is to die foe and real pesto can only be eaten there. All the other stuff is a poor imitation. One must try the famous farinata that is a pie made with chick peas farina. It is similar to the Sicilian
panelle. The main difference is that farinata is baked while panelle are
deep fried.

Cortile
This is another of those "where are they now" images. The site is a courtyard in Genoa, Italy. Many years ago, photos looked old after a few decades. Now images always seem fresh and really assume that timeless quality that makes photography unique. After more than four decades, this image is still perfect. Of course the subjects are
all grown up and even dead. However, back in 1970, that proud
grandmother, so attentive of her charges was very much alive. It's one
of the strengths and great ironies of this craft. Where are they now,
indeed.

Genova
I have a great sentimental attachment to this wonderful city. Many happy and romantic memories; many great eating experiences; many great friends and wonderful family members, have created this love affair with this historic city. Here I photographed it from Granarolo, a small hamlet on a mountain above the city. The camera at the time was the Nikon D2-H.

Genova
I love this city in Liguria; I have many fond memories and I have many friends and relatives here also. This shot looks up to Granarolo a small hamlet above the city. I also like the two pigeons silhouetted.

What great flavors / Canon G-9
Once again in Genova. Here we see an open air farmers' market where all sorts of fresh and classic country foods and produce are sold on weekends. This market is in the old part of the city near the harbor.

La Superba
Genova, known in it's heyday as "la superba, is a fascinating city. One of my favorite places in Italy. These four photos all shot with the Canon G-9 show the narrow streets in the oldest part of the city, the part nearest to the harbor.
