Seafood favorites

Being Italian, I actually like good food more than photography so photographing good looking dishes is divine. In reality this is the easiest thing to do if you have a good smart phone. Naturally the dish must look enticing. What I find odd is that when I post what I believe to be a good photo on Instagram, I get a number of likes that is not large. When I post a food shot that took a few seconds to shoot, I get a plethora of likes. As  we say in New York, go figure. Naturally being from Castellammare del Golfo a sea town in Sicily, I am really crazy about sea food. Two of these dishes were prepared at home while the pasta alle vongole or the pasta with clams is from a  restaurant in Sicily. As we say, buon appetito. Remember that eating well is the best revenge

Buon appetito

With the onset of fall as summer begins to fade, I think of comfort food.

What great flavors / Canon G-9

Once again in Genova. Here we see an open air farmers' market where all sorts of fresh and classic country foods and produce are sold on weekends. This market is in the old part of the city near the harbor.

Time to think of food

My version of bruschetta

Sicilian tomatoes and onions salad

Pasta alla Norma

Pasta riminata
So to celebrate the end of the world that wasn't,  my thought once again turn to good but simple Sicilian food. I am not a foodie just someone who likes to cook and eat good traditional food.
Please do not worry, this  is not becoming a food blog.  BTW, I cooked and photographed these dishes. Enjoy.

Buon appetito

I hope that your week is a delicious one. Last spring, while visiting Scopello, just outside of Castellammare along the western part of the gulf, we came upon this restaurant that had just opened for lunch.  After trying the freshly made caponata, we settled for these wonderful dishes: couscous with fish, misto fritto and spaghetti  with clam sauce"verace." A really memorable lunch.
BTW, you have not tasted shrimp, baby clams or calamari unless you eat them in Sicily.
