A wonderful comfort food dish. Broccoli with red kidney beans, celery, carrots and onions all swimming in a light sauce with plenty of good Italian EVO. Healthfully delicious.

This is a dish I prepare often. Lentils and cauliflower. I make it with pasta or as a souo but this time I made it with rice. A very healthy and delicious vegetarian dish.

Classic Italian comfort food, Stewed cannellini beans with sausage. The sausage is browned and put aside. As the beans are beginning to stew, the sausage is added. The result is a very tasty and nutritious dish.

A rich, flavorful and nutritious dish: ziti with beans and sausage. It hits the spot at this time of the year when spring is around the corner but winter will not go away.

Chick peas are very healthy and versatile. For these nasty end of winter days this soup is an appropiate comfort food. I added a potato for more flavor. Just wonderful.

A tasty variation on pasta e patate or pasta with potatoes. I used red potatoes and didn't eliminate the skins and used bacon instead of pancetta. The result was delightful.

Naturally, being Italian I love pasta yet, when the weather turns cold and nasty, there's nothing like a minestra to comfort me. This is a beans, kale, cauliflower and squash soup that accompanied with rustic Italian bread dripping with olive oil warms up my heart and satisfies my palate like nothing else.

It's not a food blog

Nevertheless I love to cook and do almost every night. I enjoy shopping for the ingredients and go to different shops to get what I need. I try to use only fresh vegetables but this is sometimes impossible. But I cook and eat well and being a photographer I like to shoot the food. This is only a sample of what I consider comfort food for this season that will only get colder. But spring should be here soon.

Buon appetito

With the onset of fall as summer begins to fade, I think of comfort food.

Pasta cacio e pepe

Pasta con tonno e limone

Riso con lenticchie e cavolfiore
