Another victim of gentrification in Manhattan Little Italy. This great source of Italian food is no longer. This, Kodachrome is from the mid seventies. The area is now practically an extension of China Town. What remains are a few mediocre restaurants and caffe's. that cater mainly cater to tourists. Too bad.

 A wintry day on a Sunday afternoon in Central Park way back in i973 with my Leica M-4 and good old Kodak Tri-X. 

 A blast from the past. Central Park, NYC on a Saturday in April of 1974. A group of women appeared in clothing from the beginning of the lest century. 

 In the seventies Coney Island went through a rather depressing period o neglect.This was recently reversed as the area has become trendy and full of new and high tech rides. Of course many of the old establishments have survived. Here we see this it on a wintry and icy day way back in 1974. Shot with a Leica M-4 and the sublime 35mm F2 Summicron lens on Ektachrome.

         The Italian communities in New York celebrate their patron saints with elaborate feasts or street festivals. This includes a procession with the particular. This image from the seventies is from  saint's statue on which money donations are pinned. This image from the seventies is from the Saint Anthony's feast on Sullivan street. 

 

        Another from the archives. This girld had her first Communion at Sain Patrick's cathedral in Manhattan and was sitting across the street in Rockefeller Center. An example of the so called decisive moment. Once more I used a Leica M2 with the fabulous 35mm Summicron F2 and naturally the film was Kpdak Tri-X.

         It's hard to imagine where time has gone. This image dates from 1970 and was shot with my Leica M-4 and the superb Summicron 35mm F:2. Naturally the film was Tri-X. We are in Central Park in Manhattan and these young people were "making the scene" as they said in those days.

 

       Some street photography from the seventies.This was a First Communion child photographed at Rockefeller Center, She had come out of Saint Patrick's Cathedral. Shot with my Leica M-4 and the 35mm F 2 Summicron loaded with Tri-X,  

 

    COUSIN GRACE. This wonderful woman was my father in law's cousin who lived in Washington DC or as she called it, the District. I shot this image with my first Leics, the M-4 and the Summicron 50 mm F 2 loaded with good old Tri-X. I just love this image and the look on her face. A real character.
