Instagran challenges Youtube
Up to one hour video clips may very soon become a reality. Up to now the only popular way to do this has been with Youtube
Apparently the Facebook-owned mobile image sharing platform is working on the ability to allow uploads of videos with a length of up to one hour. FB wants to take over totally, it seems.
According to the report, Instagram is currently putting an emphasis on uploading and publishing video in vertical format, which given the platform's popularity, could have serious impacts on how video will be shot and produced in the future in general. That said, some details could change before the feature is officially launched.
The company is also talking to video content creators about and publishers about creating longer videos for Instagram. Presumably this is done to ensure the availability of some high-quality content on the platform at the time of launch. No one knows what the end results will be so we have to
wait patiently to what develops. Instagram's move could be significant, as is will offer an alternative platform for video bloggers and will allow them to stream professionally produced shows and other types of content.
New photo print Kiosk from Fuji
FUJI is bringing to market the GET PIX photo kiosk jut for smart phones. No aplet is needed. Just upload your images to the website and go to the nearest kiosk. I don't see why images from a computer can also be uploaded. The question is will people use it. Everyone stores images on their phones or PC now. This is why the 30 minute photo shops ll went out of business.
THIS ROM THE PRESS RELEASE
"The GetPix DASH's ease of use is an excellent way for consumers to print images from their smartphones, allowing them to display and share special captured memories. Users simply upload their images to mygetpix.comand visit the nearest GetPix DASH photo kiosk. Once at the kiosk, they then enter the code received after uploading their images and are ready to print their photos. Utilizing the ASK-300 dye-sublimation printer, the GetPix DASH platform offers quality photos in a matter of seconds."
Look ma, no Photoshop
This archival image of this temple during a full moon was shot in Agrigento's Valle dei templi [valley of the temples] was shot on Ektachrome with a Canon FT and a 50nn f 1.4 Canon FL lens. It was scanned later on to preserve it. This was back in 1972 when this area was accessible day and night to everyone. It is now an archeological park open only during the day and teeming with visitors and it is a designated UNESCO site. No Photoshop was used and no manipulation. I'm somewhat proud of this image and I have posted it before. BTW, Sicily has 20 designated UNESCO sites, one half of all of Italy.

Goodby print Shutterbug
After 45 years of print publishing, Shutterbug will be available only on line. It's the way of the future, like it or not.
This is the CEO's statement:
"Shutterbug Magazine had a great run, but the media landscape has changed dramatically in the last 4+ decades, and we felt now was the time for Shutterbug to become a dynamic, web-only publication, Shutterbug.com has grown dramatically in recent years with record traffic and expanded reach to photographers around the world. We can now dedicate all our resources to further growing our online presence and expanding our video, social media, mobile and e-commerce channels."
The Isaiah Jones Homestead, Sandwich, MA [Part one]
This is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed when traveling. The architecture is delightful and takes you back in time; the breakfast is very elegant and the staff and owners are very friendly and pleasant all creating a feeling of ease and comfort. A must place to stay when in Cape Cod. I will feature more images in future posts.
