A tale of two towers

Siena, Italy. Torre dei Mangia in Piazza del Campo

This is what I may safely call the original tower. It is located in Siena,. Italy, on the Piazza del Campo famous for the Palio di Siena, a super fast horse race, it is called la Torre dei Mangia. It was built way before the one below that may safely be called the imitation.

Provincetown, Mass, monument to the Pioneers,

This monument commemorates the Pilgrim's first landing in Provincetown (not Plymouth), where they conceived, wrote and committed to the Mayflower Compact - the foundational document for the democracy America enjoys today. The Monument is the tallest all-granite structure in the U.S. rising 353 feet above sea level, and at the top, visitors are provided the most spectacular view of Cape Cod. The resemblance is uncanny and actually out of place and totally incongruent with the surrounding architecture.
