Vecchie foto dalla Sicilia / Old photos from Sicily

Image
Yes indeed, old photos from Sicily. I will be posting new ones very soon. The above photos were shot with Tri-X and with the Canon Ft and the Canon 50mm F 1.4 FL lens.

Have a great summer / Abbiate una grande estate

Image
There's no image that signifies summer has the parachute in Coney Island.  This was actually shot in early spring but it will do.  The long days are also what I love about summer. I'm a sun person after all. This shot is from Manhattan's Little Italy on a summer evening. Naturally we must have flowers to highlight summer's beauty.   And there's always the who'e fun of it. This shot was taken at Baltimore Harbor. Have a nice summer and thanks for visiting.

Have a delicious Thursday / Abbiate un giovedi' delizioso

There's always Venice / Nikon D-200

Image
I'm always fascinated how people go about their normal lives when they are constantly surrounded  by a plethora of tourists. Yet, in spite of it all, Venetians manage.

More from San Gemignano / Nikon D-200

Image
These are people shots. The place is overwhelmed by tourists. How the natives take this I do not understand except that this brings in  money to their economy.

Have a calm Wednesday / Vu auguriamo un mercoledi' calmo

Have a beautiful Tuesday / Abbiate un martedi' bellissimo

San Gemignano / Nikon D-200

Image
San Gemignano in Tuscany is called the Manhattan of Italy because of its many towers. There used to be many more but many have bit the  dust. They do make for interesting shots.

Have a brilliant new week / Vi auguriamo una settimana brillante

The advantages of digital

Image
I'm not necessarily anti film, I worked with it for over 30 years so I have my unique appreciation of that medium. Nevertheless, there are things that a digital camera can do easily  that with film it took two different rolls or use of filters. With digital it takes a mere change in the light balance, These two photos are shot at the same time of day at the same location using two different white balance settings. Interesting.

Have a bright Sunday / Vi auguriamo una domenica brillante

An afternoon in Breezy Point / Canon G-9

Image
The G-0 is a great camera and within it's limitations it can be very useful. Here the late afternoon light makes the picture. Breezy Point is a very unusual beach community that although part of New York City, it appears to be a totally different world.
