Dreaming of flowers

Image
It appears that spring is only a calendar event this year . I hope that soon, my backyard will have flowers again.

Great news for mirrorless camera fans

Image
The Samyang 12mm 1.2 NCS Wide angle lens is almost here Samyang have just introduced to the buying public a  super wide angle prime for the popular mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras, their 12mm F2.0 NCS CS. It's a  manual focus lrns with aperture control, so it will offer an 18mm equivalent angle of view on cameras with APS-C sensors (19mm equiv on Canon EOS M), and 24mm equivalent on Micro Four Thirds. The  use of  nanocrystal coating should  lessen flare and ghosting. It will be available in Canon M , Fujifilm X , Samsung NX , Sony E , and Micro Four Thirds mounts. How much it will cost and when it will be in stores were not  made available. However, we believe that it will not be super costly. A welcome addition and a welcome increment of the available lenses for mirrorless cameras that appear to be the future of serious photography. Good news.

Let there be spring

Image
According to the calendar spring has finally sprung. The long awaited equinox  actually  occurred sometimes yesterday. Naturally for my many followers south of the Equator your autumn will begin. Sorry Hopefully this will not just be a calendar event and that spring will really begin. Enough already.

Late winter in Milford, PA

Image
I hope these images are appropriate for posting on the official last day of winter. They are of Milford, PA an old town near the borders with New Jersey and New York State.  The camera was the Nikon D-200.

Spring is realy almost here

And with this happy development, the blog is assuming a spring like color scheme. Out with the cold blue and in with warmer springlike hues. I realize that it's a bit premature but I could not wait.

Nice work by Marcy

Image
As I have stated before, my dear wife Marcy has a great eye and one that she should use more by taking many more photos. These were shot in Juniper Valley Park close to our home in Queens. As usual. she used the  Canon G-9.

A quick return to Erice

Image
I have posted many images from this lovely medieval hamlet atop Monte San Giuliano on the north western corner of Sicily. I keep finding more images all the times because I have taken so many people there over the years. These are from 2011.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day

Image
To all my many Irish friends whom I love dearly. This post is especially dedicated to all of you. You are my favorite people, after Sicilians, of course. Enjoy your  special day; we love you.

Have a peaceful new week

Wonderful images from Marcy

Image
I have posted many images that my lovely and very talented wife, Marcy, has taken. As I have said, I hope she takes more pictures. What also amazes me is that she works miracles with her Canon G-9 making it abundantly clear that the photographer takes the picture and not the camera. But try telling this to all the techies out there who pixel peep and substitute the latest high end camera for their real lack of talent, eye and inner soul. Marcy is not only a great person but a great photographer making many photos that I wish I had taken.  These are from a boat ride an the Seine, in Paris last September. The time of day was perfect for photographing and she made excellent use of it.
