Classic shot

Image
Atlantic Avenue Brooklyn, close to the river in late day light in June 1975. Nikon Ftn with a Nikkor 35mm F 2.8 lens on Kodachrome II. Kodachrome 25 had been out for a year and it was an inferior film. I had a large supply of Kodachrome II that I used sparingly.

Winter light in Sicily

Image
The time I love Sicily the best is the winter when it's all green, full of wild flowers and the produce is to die for. The fact that there are very few tourists is also a plus and the summer heat is just a bad memory. These images of blades of grass were shot close to dusk on a December day in Scopello.

Here at last but I'm not rejoicing

Anyone who has followed this blog knows that I have little praise for winter except for the fact that is affords the taking of nice photos.

Early digital

Image
This image shows how changing the light balance can create interesting effects that were impossible with film. The camera was  Canon 1-D that had a mere 4 megapixels but it was a true professional camera. It had some features that we would never accept today. The LCD screen was very small, the menu was almost incomprehensible, and at times I needed a third hand to change some settings. Di I mention that it gave me a hernia as it was very heavy. But it was fast, reliable and hot.

Candids of children

Image
I loved photographing children. Several of my clients ran social service centers for children so when I went shooting I was always looking for those very cute faces.

Candid archival shot

Image
Shot way back in 1872 in Sicily with a Canon FT with a 50mm F 1.4 FL Canon lens and, naturally, Tri-X. The photo freezes time and youth is preserved.
