The David

This vintage image dates from August of 1969. Taken in Florence at a time when the Davide could be
observed close and personal as the say goes. Alas, because of vandals, this masterpiece is so protected as to make it hard to appreciate. It must also be noted that the crowds today are humongous. Originally shot on Agfachrome 50, it turned magenta with age. I scanned it and converted it to black and white and the image became stronger than the color original. The camera was  Canon FT with a 28mm F2.8 Canon FL lens. Where does time do? As the song says: I remember it well.

An intellectual cat

I love to visit Niantic, Connecticut because it's the home of the book barn. Being a bibliophile of sorts and an animal lover, the shot was inevitable. I find these places irresistible. The Book Barn is actually a series of stores along Main Street. Each has a specialty. At the end, almost out of town, there's the main store that is a real barn. This image was made on the store that featured mysteries. Actually it's an iPhone image.

A pleasant view.

A pleasant image shot long ago with my original Yashicamat 124 and Ektachrome 100, 120. We all need relaxing images these days. Please take care of yourselves.

Old Charleston, SC

These are slides dating from June of 1974. A Nikon FTn loaded with the new Kodachrome 25 that was inferior to the Kodachrome II it had replaced. Even then Kodak showed signs of its eventual decline. They then added new black and white films and retired that wonderful Panatomic-X. Too bad. Fortunately they did not retire Tri-X Pan.

I hope to see this place again

This pandemic makes you wonder about the future. We all must take all precautions so that we will have a future. Stay safe. I'm positive that I will see my beloved Castellammare del Golfo again.
