Le bancarelle

Image
These are the stalls that are set up during the feast. They sell mostly junk but they are a tradition. Among the various vendors, there are also street food stands. Children are especially fond of the bancarelle.

Announcing the feast

Image
Here in Castellammare del Golfo it's the fisrt day of the three day major feast. La festa del ventuno d'agosto. It culminates onAugust 21st with a huge procession and spectacular fireworks. Here we see the tammurinari announce the feast. In the old days the tammurinari or drummers acted as town criers. This was before smart phones pf course.

This alleyway is in Castellammare del Golfo where I am presently. It depicts a quiet time of day. The town has many such places that attract the photographer's eye.

New England rural scenes

Image
These are medium format images shot way back in 1973 in New England. The film was Ektachrome  100 / 120 and the camera was a Yashikamat 124. I love the square format. These days when I shoot with my iPhone. it reminds me of that great square format.

The old park

Living in New York one cannot help falling in love with Central Park. It may not be as fancy as the Jarden de Luxembourg of Paris or Villa Borghese in Rome, but it has something unique that makes it a New York park. Here are two archival photos from the seventies showing the carriages that are a central part of the park mystique. No pun intended.

La cattedrale di San Marco

No words can describe the beauty of this church. A picture is really worth a thousand words. Great images to start the new week.

Keep cool this sunday
