Have a wonderful Sunday

The North Woods of Central Park

Image
It is hard to believe that these images were shot in Central Park. This lovely area on the north western part of the park is an ideal place to escape the stress that urban life can create. One cannot believe that this peaceful setting is smack in the middle of the Big Apple.

Have a tranquil weekend

I misteri

Image
I misteri or the mysteries are Good Friday processions that re enact the Virgin Mary's search for the crucified Jesus. It winds in several streets until the body she finds her dead son. It's a very emotional parade and you cannot tell any of the participants that these are mere statues. They are real. The most famous one is in Trapani, Sicily where practically the whole city participates with the different artisan guilds each playing a role. These images swot with a Leica M-4 on Tri-X Pan date from 1974 and are being re discovered. as I go through my archives.

NY in the eighties

More images that I have re discovered. These are from an Earth Day event on Sixth Avenue in Manhattan.

A view from the bridge

Image
From the officially named Edward I Koch Bridge but known to true New Yorkers as either the 59th Street Bridge or the Qeeensboro Bridge depending in which borough you reside. These photos were shot through a not very clean bus window. Not bad.

Dig we must

Image
As I dig deeper into my archives to sort things out and scan as many negatives as possible, I come across images that I had forgotten I had made. This dates from a trip to West Virginia in the early seventies. It's a panorama shot on Tri-X  Pan with the Leica M-4 and the 35mm Summicron F2. I think that it's an image that can be added to my portfolio.

Street photography

Image
Street photography is a much maligned and misunde4rstood term. The way I practiced was always close and personal with no lens longer than a standard one. No telephotos, no sniping.his shpt dates from 1973 and was shot in Saint Thomas. It's a sc an from a black and white Tri-X negative.

Have an interesting new week
