Lone birch
During winter, of all the bare trees that have lost their leaves, the Birch stands out to assert its brief visible supremacy. While the others blend into an amalgam of almost boring similarity, the Birch announces its difference with great pride. It is a joy to the eye and it always attracts photographers in search winter shots. The fact that this Birch is in an urban park emphasizes this point.
The National Gallery
This venerable institution in Washington DC is one of my favorire places to visit when in the Capitol. It houses wonderful collections and it is free to the public. The architecture of the Italian style building is also of note. A must place to visit.
Erice, the quiet streets
Erice a lovely mountain town on the north western corner of Sicily is usually full of tourists but they congregate on the main streets. Just take a few steps away from the crowds and you enter a very different atmosphere, one of peace and relaxation.
Morning walk
Snow in the park this morning. It's still winter but it's almost two t hirds gone. There's hope.
