Take in a feast this Saturday

Image
This is obviously targeted to my New York followers. The city has feasts during this time and they are very entertaining. The rest of you, enjoy the photos and your Saturday and thanks for visiting.

More OL of Mount Carmel photos

The feast of OL of Mount Carmel in Brooklyn is fascinating because it reproduces to a smaller scale a similar feast in Nola, Italy. It is an interesting feast because the new gentrified hipsters in the neighborhood finds this type of event rewarding and fulfills their need to feel that they live among ethnics.

It's all about the food

This is especially true for us Italians who make eating and cooking a fine art and a necessary condition for living. Here are a couple of typical dishes. Buon appetito, carissimi amici.

Honesdale PA

Image
Archival shots made with a Rolleiflex in the eighties of Honesdale, PA. Not much has really changed except that the vitality of Main Street has greatly diminished due to the opening of strip malls near by. Too bad. The film was Tri-X Pan developed in D-76 full strength.

Romantic woods.

I like to play around with the settings on my old Olympus digicam. I don't do this too often becuse I'm old school and eschew gimmicks but occasionally I like the results.

A few more from the feast

The OL of Mount Carmel feast is very popular , especially with the hipster community. These shots are from 1986 before the word hipster had been introduced in the lexicon.

Have quiet Sunday
