Have a wonderful weekend

Image

Back to reality

Image
The sad reality is that we are in the middle of winter so the only thing is to make the best of it with the camera. These images are from a past winter. So far we have had little snow in New York od for this I'm grateful. Naturally this is the famed Flat Iron Building on Broadway and 23rd Street in Manhattan. It's a wonderful building that I love to photograph.

Spring fever

Image
These soft focus images make me dream of spring and the camellias at the Planting Fields Arboretum of Long Island, NY. There's an entire section with three greenhouses full of these lovely flowers that bloom in February so one can get a respite from winter and can look forward to springtime. I will make ma annual trip there soon.

Horse ranch

Image
This wonderful horse ranch is located in northern Virginia. The lovely white horse belongs to my cousin. The late day light create a nice mood.

"Rocco take my picture"

Image
Whenever I shot events, I always would get people asking to have their picture taken. This created what I called an informal portrait. It is always interesting to see the subject's reaction and I always tried to capture subtleties that made the image more interesting.

Teitel Brothers

Image
This is a landmark food store in the famous Belmont section of the Bronx, the city last real Little Italy. In this establishment one will find all the necessary ingredients for the cucina italiana. The prices are also competitive and it's worth a visit when one is in this fascinationg neighborhood.

Diversity

Image
What I really love about living in New York is it's very rich ethnic diversity. This is especially true of Queens that is the most ethnically diverse borough of New York City. These Mexican folk musicians and dancers were performing at an event at a Catholic Charities [my client] day care center.

Have a peaceful week

Can you belive this?

Holding a peace sign can expose you to identity theft.     The National Institute of Informatics (NII) in Japan claims that taking and publishing photos of subjects who are flashing the popular two-fingered 'V' or peace sign could lead to identify theft. It warns that fingerprint recognition technology is now so advanced that even casual snapshots can be used to retrieve fingerprint information. The report also says the technology is widely available and easy to use. Be careful, you never know who is looking at the photos that you post.

Have a pleasant Sunday
