Enjoy your first fall Saturday.

The foliage is just about ready to amaze.

Have a delicious weekend

Penne arrabiate that I cooked up. Fast and delicious. Life is too short not to eat well.

Bridge views

Image
New York's bridges make great images. These are of the Williamsburg Bridge. It is not as popular as the Brooklyn Bridge but it's also wonderful.

Vintage street photography

Image
Cartier Bresson when asked why he never used a telephoto answered by saying that he  needed a long lens it meant that he was far away. I despise those who do street photography sniping away with long lenses. Afraid to get close to their subjects. In effect being very insensitive and cowardly. The way a subjects reacts to you is of great importance. You ask permission that is usually granted and you do not shoot if the subject objects. This crates a bond that always leads to better shots. These images are from the early seventies in Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. This is still the heart of the city and is where one meets very interesting people to photograph.

Studio shot

Fooling around with my Burke & James 4X5 view camera in my old studio on 26 Street Manhattan.

One shot is enough

This image captures early fall in the city. Naturally it's from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, one of my favorite places in New York.
