These are archival shots of the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Brooklyn. An annual event that features the lift of the giglio. It's a tall structure carried by so called carriers and lifters. A wonderful neighborhood event much appreciated by the new hipsters that populate the area. It gives them a certain ethnic authenticity, if you know what I mean.

Back to the Big Apple
The more I travel, the more I appreciate New York. I just love it's confusion bordering at an almost anarchic way of life. Unfortunately, lately we have had a series of mayors who have not been true New Yorkers and have tried albeit unsuccessfully to make the city into something that it was never meant to be. But New York is always New York.

There was something right about the skin tones of the D 1-X. Only the Fuji S2-Pro did better. The Nikkor 35-135 F 3.5-4.5 was used.
