Lago D'Orta

Image
This is the smallest of the famous northern lakes of Italy. It is situated in Piemonte  and it is absolutely enchanting. This region is famous for the profusion of wisteria plants that luckily were at their peak when we visited.

Siena once more

Image
A return to this lovely Tuscan city  was inevitable. After a few years absence we returned this spring. forget about the images for a moment, the food was absolutely first class. These images were made in early evening with a Nikon Coolpix P7000. Nothing fancy, just an advanced point and shoot camera.

Assisi, courtyard

Image
This super famous hill town in Umbria, Italy, needs no introduction. It is wonderful, the food is spectacular and there the Church of Saint Francis, perhaps the mot beloved Saint.

The power of black and white

Image
This is especially true when one used to shoot in medium format. These images were shot on the 645 format. It gave the same ratio as 8X10 and it was a rectangular formats as opposed to the classic 6X6 that was square. It allowed more shots per roll and in film days this was very welcome. The film was Tri-X Pan Professional developed in Kodak D-76 full strength.

Night scenes

These images were recently shot in Saint Augustine. It amazes me what is possible with modern digital cameras. The camera I used is by digicam standards almost old; it a Lumix G1X, a micro four thirds format camera. It is light and unobtrusive.

Lancaster County PA

Image
This area of Pennsylvania is lovely but is in danger of becoming totally commercialized. These photos are from 1986 when it was still real, as it were. It is still a great place to visit.
