Think food foe Valentine Day

Image
Forget flowers and chocolates. Cook a great meal for her. In this case it's a dish with all the appropriate colors. Can she ask for more? Perhaps yes or perhaps no. Fresh salmon in light tomato sauce with sliced green Italian frying peppers. Add good EVO to a non stick skillet. Cut up a few scallions and peel two cloves of garlic left whole. Add these to the oil and simmer in slow heat. Add about half a large can of good peeled tomatoes. Also add a teaspoon of tomato paste. Let cook slowly for about 10 minutes making sure that there's sufficient liquid. Add one half glass of good dry white wine. Let the alcohol evaporate. Seasun with salt and black pepper. Now add the salmon. Place it face down and cook for a few minutes. Turn it over on it's skin. Cook until desired  level. Baste with the sauce and add some chopped Italian parsley. Place the fish on plates and surround it with sauce. Add some more parsley, a tad of EVO and it's ready. It looks great and it's tast...

The bridge with many names

Image
When built it was named the Queensborough Bridge. Most New Yorkers still call it the 59 Street Bridge although it's now the Ed Koch Bridge- Go figure .

Have a great weekend

More snow

Image
Just enough to cover the previous snow that had become very dirty. It does look pretty especially through a lens that was somewhat fogged.

Assisi

Image
This is the view from one of our our hotel windows in Assisi. It looked  out on churches since the place is full of them. This old mountaintop town is full of history and for many strong religious meanings. It's a beautiful place, very touristy but with great views and superb food. What more can you ask.

TIME FOR SOME STIR FRY

Image
An easy and fast way to produce a meal is to make a stir fry. Here I used seasoned roast beef but a good deli roast beef will do fine, that I slice into strips. Then I cut up a nice pepper and an union. Heat up some good EVO and stir in the ingredients. You may add a little soy sauce for that extra dimension. A potato can also be added. Simple, fast and very tasty  Enjoy

My humbe contribution

This being the month that all things African American are celebrating, I want to add this vintage shot. The place was a film group on Second Avenue and 14th Street in Manhattan. This pretty actress was getting ready to do a scene. Shot with a Leica M 4 a 35mm Summicron F;2 and on Tri-X Pan film. A glorious combination,  This was way back in 1974 and I always wonder what happened o the subjects that live on as images. Photography can freeze an instant of time and keep it forever, t

The East River bridges

Image
This shot was made from Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport on a wintry day. Pier 17 is gone and is being replaced by a new structure. This is NY after all. Nothing lasts.

Have a great week
