Always thinking of you

Image
The you is my beloved Castellammare del Golfo that I just left for what I hope will just be a short period of time. You must agree that the place is unforgettable.

Sunday afternoon

A Sunday afternoon at the Jardin de Luxembourg in Paris is always a pleasant event. The park is absolutely beautiful and well cared for and the people and the activities remind me of Central Park i n the Seventies.

Balconi su Piazza Petrolo

Image
Piazza Petrolo in Castellammare del  Golfo looks North to the sea and is becoming very trendy area. The old sailors' homes are being repaired and turned into quaint abodes. Because of the view, their prices are very high. However, their proximity to the sea makes their walls very susceptible to wear and tear.

Notre Dame

Naturally, any trip to Paris would be incomplete without a visit or two to Notre Dame cathedral. Here we see shots of the famed stained glass windows.

Narrow alleys of Erice

No matter how many times I visit this gem of a mountain top hamlet I always find photo ops. Off the touristy main streets lie scores of narrow streets and alleys that catch my eye.

Street scenes

The so called left bank of Paris also known as the Latin Quarter because students from everywhere could only communicate in Latin, has undergone many changes. Like any other wealthy city in the West, it has succumbed to gentrification. Nevertheless, there are still some streets that although  tacky and very touristy, try to go back to the old bohemian days. Here are some street scenes.

Il Castello di Venere

Image
The Castle of  Venus in Erice, Sicily, has been restored to it's former glory. It even now affords a pathway for visitors including the de rigueur  handicap access. It is really a lovely structure and one always wonders how it ever was built.
