Vintage feast photos

Image
The Saint Anthony's Feast in Sullivan Street in  Manhattan's SOHO district is coming to a close this weekend. A great place to go for good shots. These two images date from early seventies and were shot with a Leica M4 with the 35mm Summicron f2 on Tri-X Pan.

Have a beautiful weekend

New limited edition Leica M 10

Image
If you have 18,000 pound sterling burning a hole in your pocket, Leica, as usual has a way to lighten your burden. Leica has just announced a 250-piece run of alimited edition M10 kit, designed by custom luxury car manufacturer Zagato . This M10 ‘Edition Zagato’ comes with a special Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 lens that sports a new integrated lens hood. The body will also feature a new design to incorporate a handgrip on the right side. The Zagato M10  is the same s the regular production M10 body, Because  Zagato uses aluminum in it's cars, the camra will use aluminum for its top deck, base plate and body shell. The control dials and knobs, will also be made from aluminum. This design yields a body camera 70g lighter than a stock M10.  Instead of the classic Leica leather wrap there will be a series of ribbed grooves.   the   The new hand grip should make the camera easier to hold. Personally this is a camera for rich collectors. But to each his own....

Mystic, early night

Image
That period after sunset and the onset of nighttime can create nice images. There's still enough light to delineate the shy for added drama. These two images were recently shot in Mystic, Connecticut with an iPhone.

The view from the terrace

Image
These views of Flushing Meadow Park landmarks were shot from Terrace on the Park. This park is also known as World's Fair Park because it was the site of the 1939 and 1964 world fairs. The shot of the Queens Museum is actually the old New York City's pavilion from the 1939 world fair and it was the original meeting place of the UN while the present headquarters were being built.  Beyond it the famous Unisphere  from the 1964  fair can be seen, The round structure in yellow, is from the 1964 world fair it was the New York State pavilion. After years of neglect it finally got some repairs and a new coat of paint. The roofed structure is the US Open tennis stadium with it's new roof. To the left City Field can be seen. Terrace on the Park dates from 1964.It was an heliport and the pavilion of the Port Authority of New York. It was later converted to a special events and catering site. New York always changes.

Very lush field

Image
Because of the unusual cool weather with above average rain, the fields in the North East are very green and lush. They create a great fe eling of peace and tranquility.
