Stonington Connecticut

This wonderful borough in a small peninsula east of Mystic was once a whaling town, then a railroad stop where people de boarded from cars from Boston and took ferries to NY City. Eventually it was settled by Portuguese fisherman and finally, it became touristy and gentrified. Our first encounter with it was back in 1969 when it was a sleepy fishing village replete with Portuguese restaurant and bars. Slowly as we continued to visit and noted the change. The old restaurants began to serve bunches along with all sorts of trendy dishes that were expensive and not very appetizing. This is what today is known as progress. As we say in New York, go figure. When I want to eat well I do the cooking; but the place is physically very attractive and worth visiting.

Early spring day in Greenport. LI, NY

After a drive looking for wines to buy, we always end up in Greenport, a delightful town on the water that albeit touristy still retains much charm. It's definitively worth a trip.

Early digital

Early digital shot with the Fuji S-1 Pro that had a wonderful sensor of a mere 3.4 megapixels but a very flimsy body - that of a Nikon 60 SLR. I could never understand whit Fuji with it's great industrial might did not produce it's own body. Perhaps they were rushing into the digital market. Later on they produced wonderful cameras. Be that as it may, this camera created splendid color images that reminded my of Kodachrome II. only the Nikon D-1 X had similar colors and alas, Nikon decided to make cameras with totally dead colors. This was another reason for the rise of Canon digital. Enough history.

Have a wonderful week
