Street show

As the weather gets better the city becomes a stage. Enjoy the local events that make Saturdays such fun.

Have a wonderful weekend

Early light

Image
These two images were shot with color negative film in the bay area of Freeport Long Island. Early morning and cloudy light add to the mood. The negatives were scanned, always difficult when color negatives are used but although there is some color shift I like the results. If I must copy nature exactly, I just use my eyes and do not need a camera.

La primavera è arrivata

Yes indeed, spring has sprung and I'm very happy.

Welcome spring....Finally

Archival scans

Image
T hese images were made in Central park in the spring of 1978 on the day the Puerto Rican community celebrated St. Juan Day. These are some of the people who enjoyed a very lively and fun day. All images were made with a Leica M-4 and Tri-X Pan.

The bridge

Image
It was back in 1987 when the Brooklyn Bridge was undergoing one of it's endless preventive maintenances. The netting used to protect the public made for interesting images. These were shot with a Rolleiflex and Tri-X P. I like the composition especially the one where the net sort of holds up the buildings.

The last cannoli

Image
This scene was recorded at an event of Arba Sicula an organization based in St. John's University that fosters Sicilia culture and language. After the lecture there was a light repast that culminated with that most famous of Italian pastries the Sicilian cannolo. It is worth noting that the two most famous Italian dessert delicacies, the cannolo and the cassata are both of Sicilian origin. We see the waiter with a tray of cannoli and the aftermath. A great satisfaction and competition to grab that last cannolo. Priceless.

Have a wonderful week
