What can you do when winter's grip is as tenacious as this year's? Well you can always buy cut flowers and keep indoor plants. The geranium is from a pot that I take inside in the fall while the tulips were cut flowers from a store. They make the house feel cheerful and give a hint of things to come, hopefully.

Enjoy it

If you cannot beat it join it as the saying goes. Here is a classic winter shot taken on a wintry but sunny day. We must do the best we can or else we will go batty. Two thirds of winter is behind us, this is the good news.

She is still alive

By William Wordsworth    Actually, Venice, being utterly Italian, found a way to survive and live on. Surely not awash in power and might but replete with art and culture. La Serenissima shall go on unless the sea whom she married decides to embrace her and take her to it's depths. If that day ever came to pass it would surely be a sad day for civilization.      By Rocco Galatioto
