Have a beautiful weekend

Little Italy

When one refers to Little Italy, it is assumed that one is referring to Manhattan's Little Italy that centers on Mulberry Street north of the ever expanding China Town. Today this is only an abstraction of sorts. There are still the many restaurants some bad and some tourist attractions along with stores that sell all sort of imported items. There are still delis and great food stores. Today the sad reality is that the place is really for the tourists. These photos from the mid eighties show this transition. There were still some hold outs but the pressure from the Chinese community was beginning to be felt.

Archivalshot / Quebec Ville

This is a vintage Kodachrome dating from 1973 of a street at dusk in old Quebec Ville. A lovely city that is fascinating and very quaint.

Vintage Coney Island

The off season is the best time  to photograph Coney Island. These were shot in the early seventies in the month of March when it is  waking up for the new season. Now Coney Island is being gentrified so it is losing its old charm.

At JFK airport, New York

This Arab gentleman was awaiting departure for Saudi Arabia. What fascinated me besides the headgear and shoes was the contrast between such traditionalism and a totally modern attitude in the use of a smart phone.

The MET

On a winter day, it's great to explore the any museums in the Big Apple. Naturally, the big mama is the MET, The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It always features new exhibits but the permanent collections are amazing.
