  Only the old stores are left in Manhattan's Little Italy as most Italians have left and the Chinese have replaced them. This is an old bakery still trying to survive.

                A creamy version of pasta and lentils. The pasta is cooked along with the lentils. Much stirring is needed but the result is a pasta that is not soupy and delicious

These colorful Adirondak chairs were exhibited on the lawn of a large house on the North Fork of Long Island NY. They were of real wood and not for sale.

  This is an unusual combination of pasta e fagioli and canned tuna. I got it from an Italian food site. I was pleasantly surprised at the wonderful results.

A view of Lago d'Orta [Lake Orta] the smallest of the famous Italian lakes but one of the prettiest. It's in the Piemonte region In the background lie the Alps covered in snow.

  Everything is more flavorful in Sicily. This simple dish of bucatini with simple tomato sauce is an example. I used fresh tomatoes that had been picked early in the morning and made a superbly tasty lunch dish.

 Relaxing on a hot afternoon at the Jardin de Luxembourg in Paris. This Afgachrome slide dates from 1970.Parisian still enjoy this wonderful park.

  A minestra that consisting of dandelions with cauliflower and lentils; an excellent choice on a cold night. All on a bed of rice. Just delicious and filling.

 This is a medium format shot of a classic "privy" or outdoor toilet. It's located in Northern New Jersey behind a one school house that is now a so-called museum. It was shot with a Minolta Rolleicord on Kodak, Tri-X 120 film. I just love this image.

     Pappardelle pasta with authentic bolognese sauce. This great Italian sauce has suffered many variations. This is the authentic one without tomato sauce, peas etc. It is delightful.

     A view of Scopello, Sicily. Shot  in August 1972, with a Canon FT and the 50mm F 1.4 FL lens. The film was Kodak Ektachrome X with an ASA of 64. This film had a characteristic blue cast that I did not edit out in Photoshop. I sort of like it.

      A lovely courtyard in Erice, the mediaeval town known for its breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea as it's situated atop Mount San Giuliano on the northwester corner of Sicily above the ancient city of Trapani.
