Main strret

Image
The difference in both architecture and the general goings on  between American main streets and those in Europe are great but I appreciate this diversity. I just love the old American buildings and the traditional stores but alas, they are slowly disappearing while being replaced by the malls that have become their  functional equivalents. Too bad.

Have a lovely weekend

Sometimes one shot is enough

Image
I took this shot of this beautiful courthouse in Erice, Sicily way back in 1972. Shot with a Canon FT and a 50mm F 1.4 Canon FL lens. The film was Kodachrome II. I just love this image.

Sicilian Folk Group

This Folk Group from the Egadi Islands of Sicily performed during Castellammare del Golfo's feast to the Madonna del Soccorso. It's the main feast and the culmination of the many summer activities.

Fall in the city

Two images shot a while back at Juniper Valley Park a block from my home in Queens, NYC. You do not have to go far at times to get the shot.

This is not a food blog but....

I love to eat and naturally to cook. Of course I tend to favor Italian food and especially Sicilian dishes although my taste is very catholic. These are dishes that are tasty, healthful and simple. However in order to reach this goal, one must find the best and freshest ingredients otherwise the results can be disappointing. Of course  when I'm in Sicily this task is very easy. Most of these dishes were  prepares stateside.   Canazzu sicilianu, vegetable stew   Pasta con broccoli fritti, fried broccoli Pasta con pomodorini e zucchine Pasta riminata. it has mainly cauliflower but other ingredients Pasta con salsa di pomodoro, tomato sauce. This was cooked in Sicily

When smoking was cool

These images date from 1974 and were shot on Ektachrome. The location was an area of Brooklyn's Bed-Stuy section  that is now gentrified.
