Have a quiet Saturday

Image
This is a really old Photo shot in Hon Kong many years ago. The camera was a Canon FT with the 50mm F 1.4 Canon FL lens, Naturally it was shot on Tri-X Pan.

Have a pleasant weekend

My favorite NY building

Image
The Flat Iron Building has such classically wonderful proportions and such exquisite workmanship that renders it unique. Like the Brooklyn Bridge it's a structure at the threshold of the modern style that followed. I never get tired of photographing it. The highly intense color image is from a scanned slide while the lighter one is an early digital image.

View camera shots

When things were slow in my studio on 26th Street and Lexington in Manhattan, I would either make prints or fool around with my Burke and James 4X5 view camera and experiments with all the swings and shifts possible with that format. A great learning experience.

A very successful photo

Image
This is the photo that launched Geraldine Ferraro's career; she said this to me on many occasions and in all modesty I agree. It was shot in the backyard of her Home with a Nikon F, my trusted Nikkor 105 mm F 2.5 and Tri-X Pan. Afterwards many female politicians wanted the same effect but there was only one Jerry. A wonderful and bright person who was  great Representative. Sadly she left us too soon. It was a great honor working for her and I miss her greatly. Originally I was referred to her by Tom Chardawoyne, a great personality who also left us too soon. who worked for Mario Cuomo. I  worked with Mario during the mayoral campaign of 1977. Those were great times but working for politicians was challenging.

This is one of those grab shots that if one has l'occhio vivo, a roving eye, is able to photograph. This elderly woman obviously overdressed caught my eye at an event I was shooting. She was very gracious and appreciated my taking her picture. A really nice person. There is something timelessly anachronistic about her clothing and that was the main reason that she got my attention.

Candid shots

Image
You do not need fancy gear to take decent shots. These candids of a husband and wife In Sicily were made with a Canon G-9 a so called point and shoot camera.

Enjoy the fall
