Fall festival

Image
This is the time to enjoy the various fall festivals going on practically all over. A great thing to do on a Saturday. This Native American dancer was doing his thing in Honesdale. PA.

Enjoy the weekend

EATALY

Image
The name says it all. Great Italian food and products along with restaurants each specializing in a particular fare. It is somewhat expensive but everything is of the finest quality showing the world the superiority if Italian cuisine. Here are a few shots of people eating. I did not photograph the food because I do not like to do so in restaurants. The lunch we had was spectacular. I like to photograph what I make at home. Sometimes I feel that this is a food blog manquĂ©.

It's starting

I'm fascinated how Halloween has become so adult. It used to be kids going around trick or treating. Now kids come driven by their helicopter parents. But what gets me is how adults have taken over the festivities. Houses get decorated with some going to extremes. It's all in fun but I still find it odd. The owner said that they had not finished yet. I can only imagine the outcome. I will keep you posted.

A classic

This image was shot on a Sunday afternoon on Fifth Avenue near Central Park South in the early seventies. There is a feeling of ennui along with tiredness. Photography is able to capture such emotions in spades. This is one of my favorites scans although it could be scanned better. I must find the original slide but this is not easy to do. Stay tuned.

Providence R.I.

Image
These are more images from Providence's Italian section that naturally made up of restaurants and cafes. It's a lively area and the food is fine. Basically Italian American fare but I was able to have a decent  prosciutto and mozzarella hero that unfortunately was almost ruined by the de rigueur  balsamic dressing. I despise anything balsamic. This is perhaps a result of my non conformist nature but I find balsamic dressing to be hard to take. At any rate the prosciutto was tasty and the mozzarella fresh. The bread crusty and due to my great hunger these minor faults were easily overcome. It is a fun place to visit but it's nor Arthur Avenue in The Bronx. This area will be featured soon.

It took a long time

Image
Shortly after 9-11, I visited the devastated area but never returned. I just wasn't able; too much pain. I finally returned this Sunday because we were visiting Eataly and I naturally became enthralled with the area. So much has changed; so many new buildings. However, I wasn't able to visit the memorial. Maybe next time. . Nevertheless, I was not able to go to the memorial. Maybe next time.

Have a great week / eat well
