It's August, and it's hot in sicily where I am now. So this schene of Fifth Avenue at Christmas time should, at least, mentally cool things off. The Canon Eos 1DII with the Canon 16 to 35 f2.8 L lens.

Two more from Castellammare del Golfo with the LX 3

A plea for a new Panasonic. An LX 4?

Hope springs eternal even in the dog days of summer. I absolutely love the LX 3, it is the camera I have on my present trip to Sicily, but I miss a viewfinder. I just do not like to shoot looking at the LCD screen. It makes holding the camera unstable and in daytime it is totally useless. So I opted for the external viewfinder but that is only for the widest end. A viewfinder, even an EVF, would go a long way. But please Panasonic, do not increase the pixel count. Do not add noise to this little gem. Of course, as has been stated here, the Olympus Pen also lacks a viewfinder. What a shame.

Two more from Piazza Armerina

Again with the LX 3. That Leica Summicron lens on this little camera is superb.

Roma mosaics from Piazza Armerina using the LX 3

These are the best preserved examples of Roman mosaics anywhere. The site is at Piazza Armerina located almost in the geographic center of Sicily. A must see for anyone interested in art ans architecture.
