Happy Valentine's Day

Image
The great Italian comic Totò whose name was Antonio De Curtis was also a great poet and song writer. He wrote most of his poems in his native Neapolitan language. A cunzegna or The handing over of a duty is one of my favorites. 'A sera quanno 'o sole se nne trase e dà 'a cunzegna 'a luna p' 'a nuttata, lle dice dinto 'a recchia: "I' vaco à casa: t'arraccumanno tutt' 'e nnammurate." I will attempt a translation At evening time when the Sun goes inside and hand it's nightly duties to the Moon, it whispers in her ears: "I'm going home, take good care of all the lovers Have a great Valentine

No Photoshop used here

Image
I am very proud of this photo shot at the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Sicily. I caught the moon right between the columns. No manipulation just a scan. The camera was the Canon FT with the Canon 50mm F1.4 FL. The film was Kodachrome X with a speed of 64! No tripod was used only my steady hands. Digital is so pathetically easy that it has killed the craft. I'm very proud of this image shot way back in 1972.

Composition

Sometimes a picture just happens. This is a street vendor resting and shading herself from the hot summer sun at a street fair in Brooklyn. I just love the tight composition. The camera was the Canon G-9 a so called "point and shoot" camera.

We wil always have Venice

Image
With the weather cold and icy and with my injured knee, I have to search my archive  in order to post. New imag es will follow ASAP. But there's always Venice to fall back on.

I love this city

Image
This shot of the Manhattan Bridge is from the DUMBO area of Brooklyn, a premiere gentrified neighborhood.

A true jewel

Image
Yes indeed, Florence is a jewel of a city. I love this panorama because of the late afternoon light and the interesting sky.
