A walk in the night

We took a stroll a few night ago and the town was deserted. This time of the year most of the crowds only come on weekends. These are some of the resultant images that I want to share.

This is one of the awards recipients of the Walter K Hoerning Fund established to help inner city boys in having a more rounded education by providing enrichment programs such as music lessons, visual arts. dance etc. This boy was very serious with his presentation

The unfortunate result of a place becoming touristy is the plethora of shops selling souvenirs. It cannot be helped. These are at least locally made. 

Missing Coney Island

It's true, I miss Coney Island when I'm in Sicily. I'm really very attached to the Big Apple.

Feast vendors

The Italians brought to America the tradition of the street feasts. They are usually staged to celebrate  some patron saint or the Madonna. I love these two vendors working the Our Lady of Mount Carmel feast in Brooklyn a few years ago.
