Segesta, the temple

Image
This splendid Doric temple is noted for the fact that it doesn't have a cella , a square structure inside. It is of note also the fact that is splendidly well preserved as are most Greek ruins in Sicily except for Selinunte because it was destroyed by Carthage in the fifth millennium B.C. I do not use the annoying politically correct before or after common era that I find totally reprehensible. Again, the afternoon light was nice and warm. I entered after closing time so it was mercifully free of tourists. How I achieved this is a story for another day.

Have a sweet Sunday

These very sweet table grapes were a gift from a neighbor who cultivates them on his land.

Segesta the amphitheater

Image
The amphitheater in Segesta has been around for more that 2500 years and it's still being used for theatrical and musical events. I photographed it in afternoon light when the color temperature is warm and interesting. The camera was the Lumix GX1. The area is full of archeological sites that are being slowly dug up. Italy has so much archeology that it' almost impossible to comprehend.

Remembering Breezy Point

Image
This is the way this magical place looked like before hurricane Sandy devastated it. A real shame.

Romantic roses

Image
The soft focus filter on the Olympus E PL-2 renders images in a quasi romantic way. I just love it, The Panasonic GX1 has one but it is not very effective .

The marina

Again, a few more photos that show how the right time of day can make all the difference, All shot with the Lumix GX1

New from Canon

Image
Few people know that Canon originally invented what was then known as the bubble je t printer that is now generically known as ink jet. Canon USA introduces two new AIO PIXMA printers   Canon USA  has just released two new PIXMA All-In-One printers; the MG3520 and MG2420. Canon states that these AIO printers are, "ideal for the user looking for superb quality and functionality at an affordable price.". Both models offer similar feature sets, like utilizing Canon's Fine Cartridge System, 4800dpi max resolution, flat bed scanners, and printing capabilities up to 8.5x11-inches. The MG3520 also has Wireless connectivity options (e.g. Mobile device printing), a higher resolution scanner, and faster print speeds.

Always beautiful

I took a walk in the afternoon to capture the late afternoon light. This place always fascinates me .

Thinking of New York

Image
Being away, my thoughts always wonder toward New York and the troyka of places that are my favorites : the Brooklyn Bridge,  the Brooklyn Botanic and of course the Flat Iron Building. I just love this early "skyscraper," of sorts. It has an almost human dimension. It is not overwhelming in size. I hope that the visitor doesn't tire of the many posts about this lovely structure.
